Kaia Lighting is delighted to announce a new collaboration with bespoke design brand Smallbone, purveyors of fine craftsmanship in luxury interiors for the whole home. Smallbone will soon throw open the doors to its new 15,000 sq ft Knightsbridge showroom after a complete renovation. The space is set to redefine the private shopping experience and will feature a hand-picked collection of Kaia lights, including RIO In and Out, Golden Fleece, SIM, NEA WALL, and more.

Smallbone has conceptualised its new London home as a space that reimagines the concept of contemporary living. In it, the brand’s bespoke kitchen and furniture design sits alongside a curated range of international brands synonymous with contemporary craftsmanship.

At Kaia, we choose our partners with care and consideration. It should be no surprise that Smallbone’s ethos complements our own. The brand’s dedication to uncompromising craftsmanship has earned its global success and reputation for quality since its inception in 1978.

Each Smallbone design is grounded in the rich context of British craft, working closely with artisans with decades of knowledge in traditional materials and techniques. Its kitchens and furniture designs are examples of award-winning cabinetry for unique residential interiors. From concept to completion, each commission is a close collaboration between designer and client.

This level of care and consideration is as integral to its luxury kitchen design as it is to its bathrooms, dressing rooms, and studies. Its latest kitchen collection is no exception. Defined by clean lines and refined materiality, its aesthetic was inspired by the discipline of Modernism. Think hand-selected oak veneers, deep Belgian fossil stone counters, and a mellow grey finish.
Clean geometric forms and open, efficient space are integral to this collection. What we particularly admire about it is its clever use of natural materials: tonal layers of timber, metal and stone converge with tinted glass panels framed in custom metal. Subtle internal lighting and elegant timber and glass shelving complete the mood.

In celebration of our partnership, clients who purchase a Smallbone kitchen through the month of February will receive ETU, touted by Smallbone as the ‘jewel of the kitchen’. For more details visit Smallbone website.
Inspired by old laboratory glassware as well as vintage whiskey bottles and decanters, the ETU pendant is a celebration of pure and simple forms. A metal shaped counter cone is fixed inside the glass and held in place by a set of small screws, which in turn links to the pendant’s slim brass stem. This simple but perfectly resolved construction is proudly displayed for all to see in keeping with Kaia’s tradition of celebrating the beauty of function.
Kaia lights are made-to-order and created by artisans who truly live their craft. Kaia’s mouth-blown glass is tailor-made by small family-run glass workshops in the Bavarian forest with a 400-year history.

We’re pleased to enable Smallbone clients to treasure a piece of this heritage and craftsmanship in their home.
